A Visit to Tarbiyatul Yatim Orphanage

Action! Cheersss..... :D

Ramadhan or fasting month for Moslems all over the world is considered as a holy month. Therefore, all Moslems attempt to get as abundant as possible for Allah's blessings by doing good deeds such as doing fasting, doing extra praying in the evening and of course donating to the unfortunate ones. Tarbiyatul Yatim orphanage is the target for donating for CSR program this year.

The preparations for conducting this program started two weeks before the D-day. All teachers had been informed during the class assignment so it would be easy to inform the students later on. Some posters also were posted, too, on three branches: Semarang Candi, Srondol and Banyumanik. This info was also posted in social media such as Facebook and Twitter. So, it was all set! Well, the process of collecting donations were carried out during class periods by the class teachers. Students of English for Children classes (EC) and English for Teens classes (ET) were briefed by official letters to the parents.

The donations were mostly in the forms of cash, books, used clothes, kofiyet (kopiah), female praying robe, sarong, etc. From the cash, the committee bought some groceries such as rice, sugar, flour, etc, drinks, and snacks. They were all packed in boxes and plastic bags. When everything was ready and put in the cars, the committee got ready to visit the orphanage.
It was two days before Eid Mubarak when some teachers visited the orphanage. Tarbiyatul Yatim orphanage is located on jl. Simongan 1 RT08/ RW II Ngemplak Simongan Barat. There were around 9 teachers who joined the visit. When they arrived there, there was a speech given by the chief of the orphanage, Mr. Munfaat. It appeared that there was another group of people who did the same thing, giving donation to the place. Praise the Lord.

The teachers were welcomed in the guest room by Mrs. Munfaat. She talked much about the condition of the place and the children living there. There are about 62 unfortunate children. They consist of students of kindergarten, elementary, junior high and senior school. They also come from various places around Central Java: Semarang, Purwodadi, Pekalongan, Jepara, Banyumas, etc. the orphanage applies strict rules to children candidates who want to live in the place, they must be eager to study for their future.

After some chit chat with Mrs. Munfaat, it was time to greet the children. Unfortunately, some of them went back to their hometown so the teachers wouldn’t see them. Yet, the show went on :D After some welcoming speech from Mr. Munfaat, the teachers handed in some cash for them for celebrating Eid Day. As soon as it finished, it was time to have a break fasting. Some simple menu had been provided by nearby restaurant accompanied by ‘es campur’. The children seemed delighted with it. Finally, it was time to say goodbye with the children and the owner of the orphanage. One thing left was their happy faces and eagerness to welcome Eid Day. Some of them live without parents or underprivileged parents, but at least they got some attention from other people who care about them. They still need some more attention, especially the owner to finance the daily need of the orphanage.
