Level: CV 5 Lesson 6
Objective: Students are able to use some expressions about likes and dislikes on their activities.
Purpose: Students are aware that they will discuss about what they like doing, talking, or discussing (for motivating students).
Preparation: a glass for beer (or picture), pictures of beer, a cup for tea (or picture), tea leaves (or picture), and tea bags (or picture).
Procedure:
1. The teacher shows pictures of beer or lifts a glass of beer and asks some question, “Do you know what it is?”, “Do you drink beer?”, “How much do you enjoy it?”, “What do you know about it?”, “What about this (while showing or lifting a cup for tea, or tea leaves/tea bag)?”, “How much do you enjoy it?”, “What do you know about it?”, “What is your cup of tea?”
2. Students are discussing about their favorite drinks and about everything related to the drinks like the time when drinking them, why drinking them and other discussions.
3. The teacher starts explaining that beer, tea and other kinds of drink have their own fans. It means that people enjoy various kinds of drink for different reasons.
4. The teacher starts explaining that the expression, “My cup of tea” is not a common expression but also an idiom that means “My interest” or “what I like to do, talk or discuss”.
Note: This technique can be modified based on the need.
