Objective: Preparing outline of an argumentative essay by exercising Ss’ critical thinking interactively.
Procedure:
- · Ss work in groups of three. Each acts as a host, speaker, and secretary. Tell Ss about the expected outcome of their interview.
- · The speaker gets a topic card that is read for the group. The host gets cards containing questions. The secretary gets report cards containing only the headings (such as thesis, argument 1 plus evidence, argument 2 plus evidence, and conclusion) for writing the result of interview.
- · The host asks questions available on cards to the speaker based on the topic given. The secretary writes the answers on the report cards.
- · After the interview is done, the report cards are given to the speaker.
- · Take turn until all members experience the same role.
- · After finished, Ss start to write an argumentative essay based on the report (used as a writing outline.
· Note: it is possible to provide more cards for topic and/or questions for arguments that allow Ss express more ideas and select a number of expressed ideas to be the writing outline.
