Nowadays, high students spend more hours studying in school. Even more, some teachers give their students additional lesson after school hours to assure that their students will get satisfying score. Yet, many students still have to attend courses for several school subjects in order to prepare themselves for national examination and college entrance test. Also, the government set new rule for the standard to pass the examination will gradually increase. Even though many elements such as the school and the government have made new regulations; they cannot guarantee their students to successfully pass the educational stages. The reason why the educational system can’t guarantee the students’ knowledge is because there are some mistakes in its system. Some fatal atal mistakes why the system cannot work well are the method of teaching and the method of giving the examination.
Recently, Depdiknas has made newest curriculum called KTSP, which is actually another name of the old one which doesn’t give any change the impact on the education because some refuse to adapt with the current conditions of students. Nowadays, students prefer a teacher who is kind, talkative funny and creative. They cannot accept the method of using violence and angry voice during the lesson. The method of teaching is partially an important part of educational system. because the teachers are the ones who directly give lessons to the students. When the students don’t feel comfortable with a teacher, the lesson will not be delivered to the students. That’s why, they pick a solution to go to courses even though they need to spend more time. A teacher who must explain to his student should explain the lesson to each of his student. It means that there must be a personal communication between a teacher and student about the lesson. If they can’t keep the communication personally, then the students will feel bored of the lesson.
Examination also plays an important role in order to test the knowledge of the students. But, examination must be filled with logical and creative questions and not a book-based. Logical questions make the students use their creativity to answer that. The problem from the current method of examination. Many questions are still book-based and many unimportant questions.
In conclusion, the method of teaching and the method of giving examination are the ones that should be changed in order to get better education. It requires a good cooperation among teachers, students and the whole educational system. So, start now!!!
