It was one of the most unforgettable moments in my life. It happened in the middle of March 2009. In that month, I attended the ASEAN Scholarship Test with my friends in Surabaya especially at GloriaSenior High School.
My friends and I went to Surabaya on Friday. We were accompanied by our teachers. We went there by car. It took about 9 hours to reach Surabaya. After arriving at the hotel, we took a nap in our bedroom. Then, at night, we studied hard to prepare for the test because the materials of the subject which will be tested are from 9thth grade. We were still a bit green about the materials at that time. So, we studied until 11 PM. grade to 10
On the next day, my friends and I went to GloriaSenior High School to take the test. At 8 o’clock, I was called by the committee to enter the test room. I felt so groggy at that time because only once in a blue moon, I joined the ASEAN Scholarship Test.
“Time is up!” the test keeper said. I felt so worried because I just did the Math Test for 21 numbers out of 36 numbers. I said, “Oh my God, I haven’t finished the test yet.” Then I got out from the room and tried to take a deep breath. After that, we had a lunch. 30 minutes after having lunch, we still had to do the English Test. After doing the English Test, we returned to the hotel.
On that day, after arriving at the hotel, I prayed to the God in order to be accepted to get the Scholarship. All of my friends also did that.
On the last day in Surabaya, my friends and I attended the Interview Test. We arrived at the school at 07.30 AM, thirty minutes before the Interview Test. AT 8 o’clock, out of the blue, the committee said, ”The students who from Semarang, please come here!”. However, after waiting for long time, I was called by the committee. I was disappointed because I was not accepted. Only of my friends was accepted. It made me turn green with envy with him.
Finally, my friends and I went back to Semarang. It was a red-letter day in my life. I will try to practice more and more in order to get another Scholarship.
