Mastering Englosh for A Better Future

These days, if we look at job vacancy section on newspaper, we will see that many companies that seek for someone who masters English. We will also find some newspaper or other printed media published in English. Some schools, like senior or even junior high school with international standard, require the students to be good in English. From these cases, we can conclude that English becomes more important since we are in globalization era. English, as international language, is often used lately. This is what makes mastering English necessary for Indonesians.

The first reason why we should be good in English is career. We need English for a success (to succeed) in our career. Someone who masters English will easily get a better job than the one who does not. Moreover, many companies will be more attracted to the applicants who are outstanding in English these days. And even some sectors for civil servant also require the employees to master English. Besides, English will also lead us to reach job promotion.

The second is globalization. There are many labors who are employed overseas. There are also many expatriates from Indonesia who work abroad. Since they work abroad, they must be capable enough in communicating in English because English is the international language that can be used everywhere, even not in English-spoken countries.

The third is for communication. In this life, it is impossible for us to only interact with the same person every time. We will meet and mingle with some new people whom we do not know before and not all of them speak our language. In this case, English will be required as the "unifier" for people who come from different countries. For example, in Facebook, there is a boy from Spain who is attracted to us and adds us as his friend. Since he does not speak Indonesian, he will automatically speak English to make us understand what he is up to say.

The fourth is for study. We know that the higher level we study in, the more necessary English will be for us. Even some universities in Indonesia make high score of TOEFL test as the requirement for graduation. This shows how important English is in education. That is why we should not learn English only to pass the examination, because it will make learning English such a waste of time, and actually English is really needed in the future.

In short, English is an international language that is really needed. We like it or not, we will have to master English because it will give us many advantages both for present and future. Those advantages might be success in our career or an ability to communicate with other people from different countries. By mastering English, we will easily reach what we aim.
